Gourmand & Spice Perfume Workshop

In this workshop, our Particle perfumers, London & Alicia, will guide you through the foundational concepts of modern perfumery. Together, we’ll explore how perfumes are structured and formulated, the difference between natural and synthetic materials, essential lab tools, safety practices, and blending techniques used by professional working perfumers.

In this module, we’ll explore the gourmand and spicy scent profiles, a rich and comforting palette of materials often found in beloved modern perfumes. Expect to encounter notes like warm vanilla bean, cacao, cinnamon, clove, cardamom, coffee, tea, saffron, pistachio, and other decadent ingredients that bring warmth, depth, and texture to a composition. While materials from other scent families will be available to support your blend, the focus will remain on the warmth and complexity of gourmand and spice accords.

We’ll begin by smelling and discussing several popular fragrances that fall within these scent profiles, breaking down what makes them work and how they’re constructed. Then you’ll move into the creative portion of the afternoon.

Using a curated palette of 50+ natural and synthetic perfume materials and accords, each participant will develop their own fragrance composition and bottle a custom 10ml eau de parfum spray to take home.

By the end of the workshop, you’ll:

• Learn core perfumery concepts and terminology used by working perfumers
• Explore key materials used to construct gourmand and spice accords
• Smell and analyze popular fragrances within these scent families
• Create and bottle your own custom 10ml eau de parfum
• Receive several professional perfume accord formulas and written resources to continue experimenting at home

This class is designed to be welcoming to beginners while offering meaningful depth for fragrance lovers who want to go beyond a typical “blend-your-own perfume” experience.

Our workshop series is modular. Each class focuses on a different scent profile and material set. Participants who attend multiple workshops will gain a broader understanding of perfumery while building new formulas and techniques each time.

Workshops take place in the afternoon at Crow in Edmonds from 1–4 pm. Participants may finish earlier than the allotted time and are not required to stay the full duration.
